Kenya anchovy exports to China debut ceremony was held on the 23rd in the town of Shimoni, Kwale County, Kenya. The first batch of 27 boxes of dried anchovies flown to China will participate in the third China-Africa Economic and Trade Fair opening in Changsha at the end of this month.

Kenya's Minister of Mines, Blue Economy and Marine Affairs Salim Mvuria said at the inaugural ceremony, "Today is a historic moment when we will export the first batch of anchovies to China." He said that Kenya and China have long maintained friendly relations and cooperated well in different economic fields and development projects, and the blue economy will open up new areas for Kenyan-Chinese cooperation in the future.

Daniel Mongay, director of the Kenya National Fisheries Authority, said more Chinese companies are welcome to invest and operate in Kenya, which will help extend the value chain of local aquatic products and create more economic added value.

Zhang Yijun, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Kenya, said in a congratulatory letter that the export of Kenyan anchovies to China is the latest breakthrough in the export of Kenyan wild aquatic products to China since the two countries signed a protocol on the inspection and quarantine and veterinary health requirements for wild aquatic products from Kenya to China. This will increase the income of local fishermen and promote the development of Kenya's blue economy.

The company that facilitated this export, Jinzai Food Group Co., Ltd. invested in a factory in Kenya in 2018, mainly engaged in the primary processing of fresh fish. Relying on Kenya's good sea environment and rich anchovy resources, the company organizes local fishermen to catch and centrally purchase, and then process into small dried fish for export to China.
