The General Administration of Customs said that it has promoted the establishment of a mechanism for cooperation between animal and plant quarantine authorities, and will work to maintain national biosecurity, strengthen the joint prevention and control of regional cross-border animal and plant epidemics and technical exchanges, and promote more high-quality and safe agricultural and food products from Central Asian countries into the Chinese market.
China is an important trade partner of Central Asian countries. According to Chinese statistics, China and the five Central Asian countries achieved the trade target of USD 70 billion in 2022 ahead of schedule, and the trade volume increased by 22% year-on-year from January to March this year, with strong development momentum. 2022, China's imports of agricultural products, energy and mineral products from Central Asian countries increased by more than 50% year-on-year.
