On May 1, Hainan's new policy of "immediate purchase and withdrawal" and "immediate withdrawal with guarantee" of duty-free goods on the outlying islands celebrated its "full month". According to the statistics of Haikou Customs, in the first month of the policy, Haikou Customs supervised a total of RMB 348 million yuan of duty-free purchases, 362,800 pieces of purchases and 163,600 people. The overall operation was smooth and orderly, with 75 pieces of duty-free products and 75 people purchasing duty-free shopping amounting to RMB 5.99 million in the form of "guarantee for immediate withdrawal". According to Haikou Customs, the 15 categories of goods in the "List of Duty Free Products Allowed to be Picked Up on the Island" have been chosen by passengers, and the best-selling goods among them are cosmetics, bags, clothing and apparel.

The relevant person in charge of the port supervision department of Haikou Customs said that the customs will continue to take the construction of "intelligent customs" as a grip, and make efforts in various aspects such as upgrading the supervision system and optimizing the allocation of human resources, so as to continuously release the dividends of the duty-free policy and help the construction of Hainan International Tourism Consumption Center.
